Retail Stores Hazard Identification Checklist

by admin on October 2, 2010

Retail locations, whether they be large regional shopping centres, community shopping centres, strip malls or individual business premises are required to discharge their obligations under their State’s legislation relative to access to the premises and general public safety and occupiers of such premises are required to meet their obligations under their State’s specific legislation relative to the class of businesses operated.   They are also required to meet their duty of care under the State’s OH&S legislation.

The following checklist has been prepared to assist owners and occupiers of commercial premises in identifying their OH&S and liability risks.   Occupiers should be aware of their State’s specific legislation relating to their business and OH&S legislation. All sites are different and this checklist should be considered only as starting point and an indication of the typical risks facing your industry.
